RecoverED Athletes is a Christ-centered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission of shining a light in the darkness of eating disorders in athletes. Below you’ll find information on joining our volunteer team and about internships with RecoverED Athletes.

Internship opportunities:

Internships are available through RecoverED Athletes. Ideal applicants include those in majors such as public health, exercise science, health education/promotion, dietitics, psychology and related majors. It is also preferred that applicants show an interest and passion for athletes and eating disorders. Internships are remote and unpaid with flexible hours.

Potential tasks for interns include:

  • Creating infographics/flyers to educate coaches, athletes, and/or parents on eating disorders
  • Helping to increase education on eating disorders to physicians that complete sports physicals
  • Leading virtual speaking events on eating disorder awareness
  • Helping create eating disorder awareness powerpoints for specific sport such as wrestling
  • Assisting with starting a peer mentorship program
  • Educating athletic programs/directors on eating disorders

Volunteer Opportunities:

Blog Content Writers

Share your recovery story on the RecoverED Athletes site or another topic that you think would be helpful for others to read about. This role is for anyone interested-recovering athletes, recovered athletes, coaches, parents, friends/teammates, etc; anyone touched by eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image struggles in athletes are more than welcome to write for the blog. Please view the guidelines to writing content on the RecoverED Athletes blog below.

Social Media Team

Help to develop social media posts to share on the RecoverED Athletes Instagram and Facebook pages.

Operations Team

Assist with upkeep & design of the RecoverED Athletes website, help with donor software, and more.

Public Speaking Team

Megan would love for recovered and recovering athletes across the country to rise up and speak to teams in their areas; there’s so much power and beauty in sharing our story. Speak to middle school, high school, and collegiate athletic teams in your area. RecoverED Athletes has resources to help assist you with this task and is able to provide mileage reimbursement for driving to the different locations.

Grant Writing Team

Find and fill out grants to help support the RecoverED Athletes’ mission.

Fundraising Team

Develop fundraising ideas and help to promote them to further RecoverED Athletes with vital funds.

Prayer Team

Help pray for those that are currently struggling and for the needs of the RecoverED Athletes organization.

Individual Fundraiser

Support RecoverED Athletes through reaching out to friends, family members, co-workers, local companies, and neighbors to help support the mission.
